A contract of 34 million euro for the production of polypropylene from natural gas was signed between Ardabil Petrochemical Company and the Italian manufacturing and engineering company Tekint.
Bahram Shahsavari, Chairman of the Board of Ardabil Petrochemical, noted that this national megaproject has a high volume of investment equivalent to 1.6 billion euros for the entire project; he also added: “This project will eventually lead to the creation of 1,500 direct jobs and 10,000 indirect jobs for Ardabil province”.
Shahsavari said that one of the important achievements of this contract is the localization of engineering knowledge and training of specialized human resources under the supervision of first-class engineers of Tekint Company. He affirmed: “This will lead to the transfer of knowledge to Iranian engineers”. In addition, installation supervision in the construction sector will remain as the company’s capital. Finally, Ardabil Petrochemical will be self-sufficient by using its engineering capacity to supply, maintain and operate the project.
Long-term plan of Tekint Italy to be present in Iran
Giorgio Veronzi, Commercial Director of Tekint Construction and Engineering Company, also said at the signing ceremony: “The company has a long-term plan to participate in Iran’s petrochemical industry, and according to the company’s strategy to reduce engineering costs, local forces around the world have been used. According to the request of Ardabil Petrochemical, this strategy will be implemented in Iran as well”.
Noting that Tekint is ready to cooperate with engineering companies operating in Iran with complete information on the engineering project, he said: “Working conditions in the Iranian energy industry have changed compared to the years before the international sanctions, and we seek to adapt and provide all the services that the industry needs”.
